Amazing Selling Machine review: Does it still work?

Amazing Selling MachineThe Amazing Selling Machine is a training program that teaches you how to build fast-growing physical product businesses on Amazon.

In this review, we’re going to help you decide if the Amazing Selling Machine is worth it.

In recent years, e-commerce has exploded in popularity. Tons of online entrepreneurs are out there killing it with dropshipping stores and similar e-commerce businesses.

The opportunities to succeed in e-commerce will only expand as consumers do more of their shopping online.

While these e-commerce entrepreneurs are finding great success with their stores on platforms like Shopify, you can’t deny that Amazon still reigns as the king of e-commerce.

Through Amazon’s Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) program, you can actually create your own physical product business and take advantage of Amazon’s 2 billion+ monthly visitors.

But starting an FBA business isn’t as simple as “pick a product and list it”; like any business, there are certain skills and knowledge you need to maximize your success.

To cut your learning curve, two men by the names of Matt Clark and Jason Katzenback created the Amazing Selling Machine program, or ASM for short.

Could ASM be the program you need to succeed?

Our ASM review tells all, so keep reading to learn if ASM is worth the investment.

FAQ

1.) What does ASM teach? ASM teaches you how to create a successful Amazon FBA business from the ground up.

2.) What does FBA stand for? Fulfillment by Amazon. Amazon houses your inventory and ships it when you have an order. You do everything that comes before those processes. It’s similar to dropshipping, except for the housing inventory part.

3.) Why use FBA when you could create your own dropshipping store without holding inventory? With FBA, you get to create a unique brand and business while leveraging Amazon’s massive customer base.

4.) Who created ASM? Matt Clark and Jason Katzenback. Their business’s main site is Amazing.com.

5.) What’s all included in ASM? The 8-week web class, a mentor program, a private online community, a resource vault, and a suite of advanced marketing/automation tools.

6.) Are ASM’s creators successful FBA entrepreneurs? Yes. Both of them have made millions with FBA businesses.

7.) Do you need money to start an Amazon FBA business? Yes, you do need some initial capital to start an FBA business for buying and housing inventory.

8.) Is ASM always available for purchase? No. Unfortunately, they only open for a limited time every year. It looks like the creators favor opening registration towards the end of the year.

9.) How much does ASM cost? $4997 up front, or 6 monthly payments of $997.

10.) What’s their refund policy? They offer a 30-day, 100% money-back guarantee.

11.) Are there upsells? No.

12.) Does ASM have an affiliate program? Yes. They claim you can earn around $2,000 or more per affiliate sale.

13.) What is ASM’s BBB rating? Amazing.com has a BBB rating of “A”.

14.) Is ASM a scam? No. The information is in-depth, and many ASM students have found great success using the methods taught.

Amazing Selling Machine Review – Overview

ASM is a program that’ll guide you every step of the way towards building a successful physical product business on Amazon.

That’s right. You can build an entire business on the same platform where you do most of your online shopping.

Let me give you some statistical context so you can see the boundless opportunities you have to build a profitable Amazon business.

First of all, Amazon’s average Prime member spends about $1,000 per year on Amazon. Across the entire world, there are 100 million Prime members.

Yeah, that means Prime members alone spend over $100 billion per year shopping on Amazon.

That doesn’t even include the untold millions of non-prime members who contribute another hundreds of millions of Amazon sales each year.

Here’s another one: Amazon will have made $5,000+ in the time it takes you to type “Amazon” into the Google search bar.

Hmm, FBA sounds like the business opportunity of a lifetime.

How does it work, though?

Any entrepreneur running a business with a complex fulfillment process will tell you that fulfillment can sometimes be a headache.

At some point during their explosive growth, Amazon realized it could leverage it’s efficient fulfillment process to attract online entrepreneurs who wanted to start physical product businesses without worrying too much about the logistics side of things.

So Amazon created their Fulfillment By Amazon program, or FBA for short.

FBA businesses can be easier to run than a non-FBA business because you only have to worry about everything up to shipping your products to Amazon. They handle the rest.

Here’s  the short version of how it works.

First, you sign up for an FBA account. If you already have a regular Amazon account, adding FBA only takes a minute.

You then pick your products, order some samples for testing/photography, then list them on Amazon.

Once your listings are complete, you package your items and ship them to Amazon’s fulfillment centers.

From there, Amazon handles the rest. When a customer places an order for your product, fulfillment center employees pick, pack, and ship your items as if they were “normal” items ordered off Amazon.

Amazon also handles customer service for your products, helping you save time and money on keeping your customers happy.

Now, this whole process is much easier said than done.

The hard part is actually finding success with your FBA business. It’s not as simple as picking any product, throwing up an Amazon listing, and watching the money roll in.

You still have to run the rest of your FBA business like a serious enterprise.

You need to know how to pick products, which marketing methods to use, and how to scale the business when the time comes.

That’s where ASM comes in. Matt Clark and Jason Katzenback want to take your hand and guide you through the whole process using proven strategies and tactics that they and their students have succeeded with.

Product

ASM is a step-by-step training program that’ll teach you everything you need to start, grow, and scale up a physical product business on Amazon through their FBA program.

The bulk of ASM is an 8-week online class with a total of 132 lessons that can be accessed from anywhere with a computer and a wifi connection. You get to complete the lessons at your convenience, giving you much-needed flexibility if you’re holding down a job while you build your business.

Matt and Jason created a learning method they dubbed the “Momentum Learning Method” they built each lesson around. In their method of learning, each lesson is extremely focused on one thing so you can learn it and apply it to your business as soon as the lesson is over.

In other words, it’s an “apply as you go” learning method.

That way, you don’t have to spend time referencing a lesson multiple times when you’re building your business.

Just do the lesson, apply the information, and rinse and repeat.

The course is split into 9 modules, including a “Welcome” module. Each week, you’ll cover a different module of the course.

The welcome module provides a lot of background. You learn about the various resources your ASM purchase gets you, as well as why FBA is an amazing opportunity. In addition, you’ll get a tutorial of all the features of your Amazon FBA account and some lessons about the principles of success.

Module 1 wastes no time teaching you everything you need to know about picking products: which products to pick, which to avoid, and tools/methods to speed up the process are all covered in here. You’ll also learn about the power of branding.

Module 2 is where things get moving. Matt and Jason show you how to source products, communicate with suppliers, and calculate products and costs.

Module 3 shifts gears away from a pure product focus and heavily emphasizes branding. However, you also learn about ordering product samples and eventually your inventory.

Module 4 continues the marketing theme Module 3 started by explaining how to build your brand through social media and viral content, as well as teaching you how to build anticipation for your product launch.

You’re almost to launch once you reach Module 5. Now, it’s time to learn how to research keywords for maximum traffic to your products. Module 5 will also cover pricing, email marketing, product images, and the basics of product description copywriting.

Finally, it’s time to launch your product(s) in Module 6. Matt and Jason include a detailed walkthrough of the shipment creation process in this module, but you’ll also learn strategies for pre-launch, launch, and post-launch growth. The end of the module teaches you how to snag your first few product reviews.

Once you’ve launched, it’s time to improve your marketing with Module 7’s content. This module will cover how to maximize Amazons’ various advanced marketing tools, as well as turning your one-time customers into eager fans using other advanced marketing tactics.

Your business if finally running smoothly, but don’t get comfortable. The sky’s the limit when it comes to revenue, so it’s time to scale! The first lesson shows you how to determine when it’s time to order more inventory. The rest of the module focuses on launching subsequent products and scaling your business so you can earn more money while committing less time to your business.

And if you plan on getting out of the FBA business, you’ll learn exit strategies as well.

Those modules give you all you need to become the next FBA success story, but all that information can be overwhelming if you’re going it alone. In business, having a successful mentor or two can go a long way towards your success.

ASM goes a step further with ASM’s second component, the Mentor Program.

Other mentor programs might provide you a general business coach, but not ASM’s. They recruited actual ASM students who were killing it using ASM’s methods and already showing others how to succeed to be mentors for current and future students.

So even if you’re unsure if you can apply the course contents successfully, you have real-life success stories that can answer your questions and guide you through uncertain nuances that the course might have missed.

Probably the best utilization of social proof I’ve ever seen.

Oh, but the good stuff doesn’t stop there.

Any course worth it’s salt ought to have some sort of private online community for networking, discussion, and support. After all, entrepreneurship can be a lonely path.

ASM has it’s own online community called the Amazing Alliance, and it does not disappoint.

Amazing Alliance is filled with Amazon sellers from all walks of life. Everyone from absolute newbies to sellers pulling millions a year can gather to discuss specific business subjects, ask/answer questions, and share goals and experiences.

Plus, you get a whole network of people to hold you accountable to staying on track with your business.

Oh, and the ASM Mentors are part of Amazing Alliance so you have even more access to them.

Aside from the sense of camaraderie you get from the ASM online community, you also get first dibs and the best pricing on spots at ASM’s live events. One of these is their massive SellerCon event.

By the sounds of it, these live events are great for networking with other Amazon sellers and learning new things you can apply to your own business.

So far, ASM has showered you with almost anything you could possibly need to succeed in FBA.

But if having you hand held from start to finish AND working with living examples of ASM’s success wasn’t enough, Matt and Jason threw in their Private Resource Vault that covers all the nitty-gritty business details.

For example, they give you contact information for any professional services they use in their own Amazon business, such as professional photographers or freight forwarders.

They even include templates for contracts and product evaluation.

These aren’t just recommendations. Matt, Jason, and their students are using all the resources in this vault to this day to run their Amazon businesses.

Lastly, just for good measure, ASM gives you a suite of advanced automation tools that’ll help you monitor your business’s growth and scale it when the time is right.

The tools include a “brand launchpad” that helps you gain traffic, an analytics tool for tracking various important business metrics, a dashboard for that shows you many of these metrics at a glance, and a research toolset for identifying the best products and the most effective keywords for ranking your products highly.

Wow. That’s a lot of stuff they cram in there.

Rightfully so, given it’s price tag that we’ll get into later.

Now, to address some minor confusion.

If you search for ASM on Google, you’ll sometimes run across a program called “ASMX”.

See, Matt and Jason update the course with new content every so often to stay on top of FBA trends and strategies, as well as to keep up with Amazon’s ever-changing terms and conditions.

ASMX is just the 10th iteration of ASM, as X is the Roman Numeral for 10.

Once you buy access to the course, you get free, lifetime access to all these updates when they happen.

Unfortunately, ASM isn’t open year-round. It looks like Matt and Jason favor opening registration towards the end of each year, most likely to “start fresh” with their new students during the New Year.

Upsells

ASM has no upsells. It’s an expensive course that provides tons of value, so I don’t even think there’s anything it doesn’t cover that’s worth an entire new info product.

Matt and Jason don’t really need upsells, either. Perhaps the thought crossed their minds, but they’re making so much from Amazon FBA and ASM course sales that they probably decided it wasn’t worth it.

Pricing

ASM costs $4997 up front. You can also opt for 6 monthly payments of $997 if you don’t have the full $4997 up front. However, this method will run you almost $6,000 total.

Either way you cut it, you’re paying a lot of money for a course.

However, given the absurd amount of useful content they packed into ASM, I don’t think the price tag is unfair or unrealistic.

I mean, you’re going to make back that $4997 or $5982 in time if you follow the guide to a T and take full advantage of the endless other ASM resources.

Think of the price as a qualifier. Without it, they might have a bunch of price-shopping students who want to call anything that doesn’t instantly create immense riches a scam.

Even the most valuable, non-scammy courses out there can lose a lot of buyers by simply having the word “scam” associated with the course.

The $4997 sticker price weeds out all but the most serious of aspiring FBA entrepreneurs to keep scam-accusers at bay as well as maintaining a high-quality, supportive Amazing Alliance community.

Another way to look at the price would be to compare it to college tuition. One 12-15 credit semester alone at some of the least expensive state schools can cost almost the same in tuition and fees as this course.

Then when you finally graduate, you have to spend years working your way up to a lucrative position if you go the employee route.

Compare that to the money you could make with ASM’s methods.

But what if you fail?

At college, you have to pay to retake the class.

With ASM, there’s no “failure” unless your business fails. Even then, you have lifetime access to the course and all the bonuses so you can learn from your mistakes and retry without repurchasing the course.

Affiliate Program

ASM has a very lucrative affiliate program. According to their affiliate application page, each person that buys through your affiliate link earns you nearly $2,000 per sale, with the opportunity for even more earnings.

At that rate, making just 2 affiliate sales per month can earn you almost $50,000 per year!

Of course, you shouldn’t expect a high volume of sales since the course costs as much as renting a swanky New York apartment. But given the amount and quality of the course content, a little bit of decent copywriting will go a long way towards banking off the affiliate program.

Speaking of copywriting, ASM does most of the heavy affiliate lifting for you. They give you proven email and social media templates for promoting the course and directing traffic to their free monthly webinar.

All you have to do is have a suitable audience to sell to.

Such a great affiliate program is naturally selective about their affiliates, though.

On the affiliate application, ASM asks you about your affiliate marketing experience, mailing list size, and promotion methods. They even ask you about your most recent affiliate promotion and its sales volume.

These requirements seem stringent, but limiting access to the affiliate program protects their reputation. If they attract the wrong audience (people who aren’t serious aspiring FBA entrepreneurs) they could get hit with a bunch of false scam rumors when those students don’t succeed.

Thus, they want affiliates who will bring them high-quality customers that appreciate and apply ASM’s overload of useful material.

Recap

E-commerce is revolutionizing the way we shop. Naturally, it’s also revolutionizing entrepreneurship.

When equipped with the right knowledge and a bit of drive, anyone can leverage the power of the internet to build an online business and create their financial freedom.

Even if you have no idea how to run a business, ASM holds your hand from business idea to wildly profitable venture by throwing an unbelievable amount of useful content at you.

That is, if you’re willing to pay the giant sticker price.

If you are serious about leveraging the most valuable company in the world to build your own lucrative physical product business, that sticker price is a small price to pay to learn the secrets to building an FBA business that gives you the financial freedom you’ve always wanted.

67 Steps Review: Tai Lopez Will Teach You How To Get The Life You Want

67 Steps is a video course created by internet marketer Tai Lopez that teaches you how to live “the good life”.

Over the course of human history, philosophers of all kinds have sought out what it means to live a “good life”.

Socrates implied that the good life was a life full of self-examination and self-reflection when he stated “the unexamined life is not worth living”.

Kant thought that by striving for the highest virtues, we could reach the good life.

Nietzsche believed that the pursuit of individual excellence was the way towards the good life.

Tai Lopez has read the works of many of these philosophers. By combining what he’s learned from those great thinkers with the teachings of his own mentors and other events from his own life, he thinks he finally discovered the path to living the good life.

He wanted to share his discovery with the world, and so 67 Steps was born.

Now, it’s bold to claim you’ve discovered the true path to a good life.

Especially if you claim you can distill it all down to 67 individual steps.

Keep reading to see if Tai makes good on his claim with this course.

67 Steps Review – Overview

Tai Lopez’s 67 Steps program is a 67-lesson online course that promises to teach you how to achieve anything you want.

He based 67 Steps off many lessons he’s learned over his massively successful career, so it’ll help for you to have a little background on the man:

Like many rags-to-riches online entrepreneurs, Tai Lopez started out dead broke. However, he knew there had to be more to life than barely scraping by.

His first mentor was an odd choice: an Amish farmer. While working hard on the Amish farms, he learned a few of the lessons that have found their way into 67 Steps.

After living like the Amish for awhile, he returned to society with a fresh perspective. Through some networking and cold-calling, he landed a financial planner job at a small company. During his time with this company, he met many multi-millionaires that became some of his first wealthy mentors.

Eventually, he moved on from this small company and jumped into a finance role at GE Capital.

His first business ventures were in the dating niche, the same niche that his then-future Mentorbox business partner Alex Mehr founded a business in (Zoosk). Tai owned several dating sites at one point early in his business career.

Since then, he’s founded, invested in, or advised numerous multi-million dollar companies. He also sells a lot of courses, such as his 67 Steps video course.

Now that you have some background about Tai, a bit about the program itself.

It doesn’t focus on teaching you specifics, like how to make money online or how to drop 30 pounds in a month.

Instead, it’s a giant compilation of the most important lessons Tai’s learned over his lifetime.

The key difference between this course and a more focused “instructional” course is that you can apply these lessons to any aspect of your life to help your journey towards success.

Why 67 steps, though? Isn’t that a lot of steps? Why not a low, even number like 10?

According to Tai, it takes 66 days for a new habit to solidify. As for the 67th step, he decided to tack on one extra lesson for “good luck”.

I’d rather have 67 lessons than only 10 anyways. Makes for a much more valuable course!

Product

67 Steps is a video course. However, there’s no “video” in some of the lessons. In those lessons, there’s a picture on the screen that’s relevant to each lesson, but you only hear Tai’s voice.

The course itself is a one-time buy. There is a subscription element to it, but more on that in a second.

There isn’t much formal structure to each lesson. Instead, Tai weaves stories of his own life in with the actual content so the information sticks better in your brain.

Also, the titles are pretty funny. He manages to tie multiple things that have nothing to do with each other together to make for a coherent lesson.

I like the “down-to-earth” feeling you get from these videos, but the lack of formal structure can be annoying for people who need to be guided through the material more.

Unfortunately, he doesn’t get all professional and edit together a perfect video lesson. Each lesson is one long shot of him talking. You’ll sometimes catch him rambling or going off on tangents, which can get a bit annoying if you just want to hear the good stuff.

Still, he always finds his way back to the subject. No big deal.

Speaking of subject matter, it’s all over the place.

After his “watch this first” video, you start the first lesson.

This lesson is called The Billionaire’s Brain and Jennifer Lopez’s Voice.

He starts the lesson with a story about his time working on a farm in Mississippi.

While there, he met a very wealthy European named Mike. Mike asked Tai why he enjoyed a particular book he was reading. Tai told him something about the author’s qualifications made the book interesting, to which Mike responded “but is he worth a damn?”

Tai was confused at the time, but he discovered what Mike meant years later when he read Poor Charlie’s Almanac by Charlie Munger, who’s billionaire status influenced this lesson’s name.

One quote in particular stuck out to him: “To get what you want, you have to deserve what you want. The world is not yet crazy enough to reward a whole bunch of undeserving people”.

Throughout the rest of the lesson, he talks about a bunch of intangible qualities you need to improve to maximize success. One is the “deservedness” factor, which is how much you deserve the spoils of success based on the work you put in. Another big one he hits on is awareness.

You’ll also hear his thoughts on equality and why we live in the best of times.

The second lesson, titled Blue-Footed Boobie Birds, ESS, & The 500 Year Old Mind, Tai Lopez shifts gears and talks evolution. He begins with Charles Darwin’s discovery of the blue-footed boobie, a bird found on the Galapagos Islands.

As the lesson goes on, you learn about the dangers of black and white thinking and the downfalls of refusing to adapt to change.

The main point of lesson 2 is to pound into your head that your ability to adapt to change will largely determine your success in life and business.

Overall, the course content was kind of enlightening. Tai changed my perspective on certain things related to mindset, success, and how the world work.

Anyways,

Each video lesson ranges between 30 minutes to an hour long, so you’ll need to block out dedicated learning time to efficiently complete the course.

Completing the video doesn’t mean you finished the lesson, either. Scroll down the page, and you’ll see one or more questions you need to answer to officially be done with the lesson.

But here’s the cool part: you can see answers to these questions from actual students if you keep scrolling down.

On top of the course itself, Tai throws in some extras:

  • Tai’s Mentor Tips – Other tips Tai’s learned from his mentors
  • Investment Secrets From The Ultra-Wealthy – Tai’s had a lot of wealth mentors, so he learned some investing secrets along his journey
  • Speed Reading Wizardry – Tai is known for his “book a day” habit that he accomplished through speed reading. His other business, Mentorbox, teaches you how to speed read with actual books and tons of learning material.
  • 6 Day Smart Reading Course
  • Tai’s App List
  • Access to a private Facebook group for networking purposes

When you hit the checkout page, you’ll see both the course you’re buying and a description of the extras right below it. You’ll also notice that you have “15 minutes” until your bonus expires.

This is a lame attempt at false urgency. I ran down the timer to 0:00 and my bonuses never disappeared, not at all to my surprise.

I was already expecting this from Tai Lopez, but I had to check just to make sure.

Don’t fall for this cheap marketing tactic. Make sure to evaluate your buying decision based on the course, not the “limited time” bonuses as they never expire.

Anyways, about the subscription piece.

I have to give Tai some credit; he’s relentless about using slightly questionable marketing tactics to earn more of your money.

See, once you enroll in 67 Steps, you’re automatically enrolled into their “VIP Lifestyle Membership”. This is the monthly subscription piece of the product.

Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with automatically opting people into things if you’re clear about the terms of the purchase and you provide an easy way to opt out.

Tai Lopez doesn’t make it too hard to opt out. To opt out before you’re charged, you have to email his support team or go to their help page and follow the instructions within 30 days of purchase. You can also opt out any time by following the same instructions.

Tai doesn’t shrink the fine print too small on the checkout page either; you can actually read it without squinting.

Still, it can be inconvenient to opt your way out of a completely separate paid program when all you wanted was the one time purchase. That and the false urgency can make the whole thing seem scammy, but that’s nature of the niche Tai’s in.

To be fair, the VIP Membership does have some good stuff in it.

For example, VIP subscribers are given two live coaching video calls per month with both Tai himself and various other experts. On these calls, you can ask Tai and the others any questions you have and they’ll gladly answer it for you.

Also, Tai teaches the most important lessons, or “gold nuggets”, extracted from his favorite books.

Tai claims that consulting similar to these video calls would usually run almost $10,000 per hour.

That number sounds a bit too high to be true. It just doesn’t make business sense to give away $10,000 worth of value for the price of a nice shirt.

Still, Tai IS an accomplished entrepreneur, so these video calls can be quite valuable if you bring the right questions.

Speaking of these video calls: Tai Lopez has been doing this for years now, so he’s accumulated a lot of value-filled video coaching calls. He gives you access to a lot of his past calls if you have the VIP membership.

Those are some cool bonuses, but I think the coolest one is the “Book Of The Day” bonus.

In this bonus, Tai had Mark Cuban and Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute from the US version of The Office) record video and audio summaries of what he believes are some of the most valuable books to read.

Now, these bonuses are all pretty nice. But I don’t think they’ll make or break your success in life.

If $69.99 a month puts a strain on your budget, I’d make sure to opt out as soon as possible. You won’t lose access to 67 Steps.

Upsells

67 Steps has two main upsells: the mini-MBA program and the VIP Membership program.

Despite being automatically opted in to the VIP Membership upon buying 67 Steps, I still think it’s safe to classify this membership as an upsell as it’s not a necessary part of the course.

On the other hand, the mini-MBA program is an upsell separate from the course and the VIP membership.

In the mini-MBA program, Tai aims to teach you the principles and concepts of business that you’d learn in an actual MBA program.

The video lessons are informative enough; you learn a lot of important principles in multiple areas of business. There’s no complex mathematical formulas nor is there a lot of technical jargon, making it easy to keep up.

Tai also throws in the typical live Q&A calls which are done on a weekly basis. He records these in case you want to reference them for later use.

Unfortunately, the good parts of the course stop there.

For one, the material isn’t as valuable as it could be. Tai covers a lot of the basics, but not much more.

In fact, I think you could learn the same stuff by grabbing a few inexpensive books or even digging around on the internet.

Then there’s the course structure.

It’s structure is similar to 67 Steps’s structure. You have informal video lessons where Tai sits in front of the camera and teaches you business by combining the lesson content with lessons from books he’s read and his own anecdotes.

No cuts, no edits, no special effects. Just Tai Lopez lecturing at you for a prolonged period of time.

This structure works great for a broad course like 67 Steps, but it’s too “everywhere” for a course that’s supposed to teach you business.

See, since each lesson is unedited, Tai is prone to going off on tangents or getting too deep into anecdotes which can be kind of frustrating when you’re here to learn business principles.

Again, that only works if you’re teaching people life lessons. When it comes to learning business, structure helps you track your progress towards mastering the material.

Tai does have some “Mentor interviews” packed in to the course, but there sadly aren’t that many to watch.

At a much lower price point, I think the mini-MBA course would make a great introduction to business concepts if you’ve never learned them before.

But to me, the material is just too basic and the course isn’t structured enough to justify the price tag.

Hey,at least the course doesn’t have any complicated, advanced math problems.

Pricing

67 Steps costs $67, most likely for the 67 steps involved.

Technically, it’s a one-time, upfront payment that grants you lifetime access to the course.

However, as you know, buying the 67 Steps course automatically enrolls you into their VIP Membership as well.

The VIP Membership will run you $69.99 per month.

You are by default opted in to this membership, so make sure to opt out by emailing their support or going to their help page before your initial 30 days are up if you don’t want access to the VIP program.

The mini-MBA program is a lot more expensive than either of the above at $497.

I don’t think the MBA program is worth the cost for most, especially if $497 is a significant amount of money for you. You could just go spend $50 of that $497 on some high-quality business books, then invest the rest into an actual business.

Affiliate Program

67 Steps has a formal affiliate program that can make for a lucrative source of passive income.

However, The application isn’t as simple as “what’s your Paypal?”

After filling in your basic information, he asks you for you affiliate marketing experience level, email list size, and monthly ad spend to make sure you’re not some random trying to make a quick buck.

He even asks you to list reasons he should consider you as an affiliate.

Honestly, I think this is fair. Tai wants to work with winners.

You know, people who will bring him a lot of new customers.

Put another way, he wants his affiliates to have an audience and the drive to sell to that audience.

I haven’t applied for the program, but given the questions he asks on the application, I think it’s safe to assume that the program is fairly selective.

But how about the earning potential?

Since 2014, Tai has sold 100,000 copies of 67 Steps. Due to his brand’s explosive growth in recent years, I can only see that number climbing.

And since 67 Steps is so broad, affiliates in many different niches can all find success with the affiliate program.

Tai doesn’t give explicit dollar figures for 67 Steps affiliate earnings, but he does give some dollar figures for the upsells: affiliates can earn anywhere between $50 and $250 per sale on upsells.

That’s not the best part, though.

The best part is you don’t have to write a lick of sales copy if you don’t want to.

Tai’s team gives affiliates all the normal promotional materials his team uses to market his products.

That means all the sales emails, banner ad copy, and other marketing insights they’ve gained through millions in ad spend and testing is all yours for free when you become an affiliate.

Good news for you: given the sales figures I just told you, you know that their promotional materials sell the daylights out of his products.

That means more money in your pocket for next to no work!

Not bad if you can get past the application process.

Recap

Most people would expect a course as broad as 67 Steps to be nothing more than a scam. The broader the subject matter, the easier it is to stuff the course full of cheap platitudes and basic information that you can find for free or cheap elsewhere.

I mean, come on. How could one course teach you the secrets to health, wealth, and happiness? People dedicate their careers mastering just one of these areas, after all.

Despite the expected funny marketing tactics and course breadth, however, I don’t think 67 Steps is a scam. The lessons within are actually interesting and the use of storytelling throughout the course definitely helps you enjoy the material and learn it better.

Will this course make you rich?

No, but the collective wisdom of several famous entrepreneurs could give you the insight you need to start an online business and take it to the moon.

Will it get you in killer shape?

No, but the lessons inside could teach you the value of discipline, an important trait to have if you want to see your weight loss through to the very end.

67 Steps isn’t a specific guide for how to do any of these things, it just equips you with the knowledge you need to take action.

And action is the most important part of success.

Mentorbox: Tai Lopez Says “Learn To Read Like A CEO”?

Mentorbox is a monthly subscription service that teaches you how to speed read so you can extract a book’s most critical information in less time.Mentorbox

I’m sure you’ve heard that the top CEOs and other high-performers in most industries credit some of their success to their extensive reading habits.

For example, Bill Gates claims to read 50 books a year, which is about 1 new book each week. Mark Cuban reads for 3 hours every day.

Most impressive of all, Tai Lopez claims to read an entire book each day.

He’s also a co-founder of Mentorbox, which promises to teach you how to read like the successful read so that you too can succeed.

But does Mentorbox make good on this promise? Or are they just another scam providing you the “secret” to wealth?

Keep reading our Mentorbox review to find out more.

Overview

Mentorbox’s goal is to teach you how to read like successful people read.

You see, reading is touted by many successful people as a key factor in their success, and for good reason.

Books serve as a glimpse into the author’s mind. By reading a lot of books, you’re accumulating knowledge and wisdom from some smart people.

However, reading is a time-consuming activity; successful people like Elon Musk and Bill Gates are very busy and don’t always have time to sit down and read a book cover-to-cover. Rather, they look to extract the few most important lessons from each book and disregard the rest.

This is known as speed reading.

Mentorbox was created to teach others how to speed read books so they can learn more valuable lessons in less time.

Launched only in 2016 by Tai Lopez and Zoosk cofounder Alex Mehr, Mentorbox is headquartered in Las Vegas, NV. However, they have a few other locations.

This is by no means either man’s first venture.

Although you may know him as the guy who bragged about the new Lamborghini he just bought, Tai Lopez has found success in many business pursuits: e-commerce, coaching, consulting, online courses, and even dating websites.

Seeing as Alex Mehr cofounded a dating website himself, I’d have to guess that dating brought these two men together… in a strictly professional sense, of course.

But let’s get back to speed reading. As I said, speed reading is the practice of absorbing the most important lessons in a short time.

How short?

Mentorbox aims for between 1 and 1.5 hours per book; this comes out to only 10 minutes of reading per day, or the amount it might take you to read a chapter at normal speeds.

Now, will the speed reading skills you gain from a Mentorbox subscription allow you to make the same kind of money that these famous CEOs and entrepreneurs make?

Well, not exactly.
See, a lot of people believe that stuffing your mind full of knowledge will magically attract more money to you.

You’ll have some sort of entrepreneurial epiphany and start the next billion dollar business.

In reality, that rarely happens. Highly successful people who attribute part of their success to a prolific reading habit most likely had a skill that they could profit off of; by reading books, they gained knowledge that allowed them to leverage the skills for way more money.

Without a marketable skill, you’ll be left with nothing but a head full of knowledge.

Think of it like this; the lessons you learn from books are just one ingredient for success, while the skills are another ingredient.

At the bare minimum, you need these two ingredients to bake the cake known as success; having an endless supply of one ingredient won’t help you bake the cake if you’re missing the other.

Also, you need to actually hold yourself accountable for doing the work. There’s no teacher looking over your shoulder to make sure you’re keeping up with the assignments.

If you subscribe to Mentorbox for that “self-improvement” high, you’re better off just investing your money into sharpening a skill you can sell to others.

Don’t get me wrong; pursuing knowledge is always a good idea.

All that knowledge isn’t helpful if you don’t apply it, though.

As long as you do the work and apply the lessons, Mentorbox sounds like a pretty cool idea.

However, there have been plenty of complaints against them in their 3 years of existence.
For one, payment issues seem to be a concern with a lot of Mentorbox customers. Refunds are quite slow, but some people have even noticed that they charge your credit card without your permission on occasion.

Some Mentorbox customers have discovered the “Enroll In Entrepreneur Academy Button” is at least partly to blame for this. There’s no price listed anywhere near that button, but Mentorbox subscribers noticed they were charged for enrolling without being informed.

They aren’t trying to directly scam you, but they’re towing that line very closely by acting like that’s just a part of the subscription, rather than an upsell.

Upselling is totally fine and should be encouraged as long as customers know it’s an upsell. Not telling them that something is an upsell is just bad business.

As of now, I don’t believe they have that Entrepreneur Academy upsell anymore. Still, be careful before clicking any buttons on their site once they have your credit card on file.

In a similar vein, there’s also their sales page.

Look: Tai Lopez is an internet marketer, so of course he’s going to pull out all the copywriting stops when selling Mentorbox.

Still, the sales page is very “in-your-face” and “salesy”.

Yet another common complaint is their customer support. Many claim it’s well-intentioned and fairly responsive but messy and inefficient.

In an industry full of half-baked “make money online” money-grabbing scams, these complaints certainly don’t help Mentorbox’s image.

Despite these issues, Mentorbox is a legit business and many customers have benefitted from the enhanced reading abilities they gained through their subscriptions.

Fun fact: Mentorbox’s entire business is built on Clickfunnels. If you’ve ever doubted the power of Clickfunnels, then Mentorbox is here to show you your doubts are mistaken.

Products

Mentorbox’s basic product is their monthly subscription.

The subscription is offered in two different forms: digital and physical.

Both subscriptions utilize 4 learning methods to teach you the content: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and reading.

So what’s inside a Mentorbox subscription?

If you get the digital subscription, here’s what you’ll get each month:

  • Over 500 hours of video lessons
  • Downloadable lesson workbooks
  • Unlimited access to the course
  • Book summaries in audio format
  • Cheat sheets for retention and speed reading
  • Access to a private Facebook mastermind group
  • Various other study materials

Your digital copies of books, video lessons, workbooks, audio summaries, and some other study materials are all stuffed into a Teachable course.

If you’ve ever used Teachable before, you know how intuitive and satisfying Teachable courses are to run through. I think this was a good choice on Mentorbox’s part.

As for the mastermind group: Mentorbox has a private Facebook group for paying subscribers to discuss what they’re learning with each other.

To gain access to the mastermind group, you have to apply; however, this is just so Mentorbox can confirm your subscription before letting you into the group.

If you get tired of doing everything online and prefer to read physical books, the digital subscription gives you the opportunity to upgrade to the physical subscription.

The physical subscription includes

  • Your 2-3 monthly books
  • Study guides
  • A USB drive full of your books’ summaries
  • Cheat sheets and workbooks for each book
  • Magnet
  • Bookmark

Your physical subscription also grants you access to the online course; however, you’ll only need it for video lessons and other digital items included in your subscription.

Whichever subscription you choose, you’ll notice Mentorbox has some pretty good authors.

Ever heard of Tony Robbins? How about Mark Manson? Those are just a couple of the authors whose books you’ll read with a Mentorbox subscription.

You don’t get to choose the books you receive, but Mentorbox makes sure each month’s books are relevant to both personal development/business and relevant to that month’s speed reading lessons.

And given the names I just mentioned, you at least know that you’re getting some quality material each month.

Upsells

As you’d expect from an online business, Mentorbox offers plenty of upsells. They do change every so often but rest assured you can spend more of your money on Mentorbox content if you please.

But before we talk about some of these upsell, let me reiterate: be careful about clicking buttons on their site once you have a subscription. Any innocent looking button could be their sneaky way of upselling you.

Anyways, on to their current upsells.

One of them is a VIP membership called MentorNetwork. When you buy a MentorNetwork membership, Mentorbox grants you access to their “mentor network”. This is their fancy name for the group of high-level authors, executives, professors, and entrepreneurs they partnered with.

Some of these partners include Arianna Huffington, Mark Manson, Robert Cialdini, and Mentorbox’s two founders.

Your VIP membership gives you exclusive access to weekly live sessions with this partner network. Ask questions during the session or email in your questions ahead of time.

If you miss a live session, you can rewatch the video at your convenience.

Some other features include discounted live seminars, a special “members-only” LinkedIn networking group, and even free meetups all over the US.

But that’s only one upsell.

If you don’t need this all-inclusive VIP membership but still want access to selected experts, Mentorbox offers a smaller upsell called MentorClass.

MentorClass is essentially a catalog of upcoming seminars and workshops hosted by various Mentorbox partners and other experts.

Among these offerings are a few mainstays that cover your typical business topics. For example, in their “Fundraising Ideas: How to Get Venture Capital, Crowdfunding, or Bank Loans For Your Business” class, you learn about the “what” and “how” of funding a business.

But aside from these “normal” courses, there are some interesting offerings that pop up every so often.

One that caught my eye the other day was a workshop called “Drink Like A CEO”.

Taught by a world champion in mixology that holds numerous other accolades, the purpose of the course is to teach you all about liquor and cocktails: their history, how to make them, and how to order them.

Unlike Mentorbox’s mainstay Mentor Classes, unique workshops like “Drink Like A CEO” have limited seating and aren’t around forever.

Something to keep an eye on if you become a basic Mentorbox subscriber.

Pricing

A digital Mentorbox subscription costs $7/month or $59/year, while the physical subscription costs $89/month.

Buying the books separately and teaching yourself how to speed read without Mentorbox’s physical subscription is quite possible and actually cheaper.

But that’s not the point; Mentorbox provides you only the information you need to learn how to speed read, and they do it in a structured way so you can easily track your progress.

The price tag is what you pay for the convenience of Tai Lopez delivering a whole speed-reading curriculum to your doorstep or desktop.

If you really don’t want to pay $89 a month for the books and lessons, stick with the digital subscription.

But either way, you’re getting a great deal on high-level knowledge; hiring any of the experts that Mentorbox is partners with would be insanely expensive.

Speaking of “hiring the experts”, let’s talk about upsell prices.

The main MentorClass workshops and seminars all allegedly cost $299, while some of the one-off/limited time workshops are priced differently.

However, when I visited the landing pages for some of these workshops, many of them displayed a crossed-out “original price” that was replaced by “$89 this week only!”

I’m sure that’s just a clever marketing tactic to get you to buy at “such a great discount”, but that’s not too bad of a price to be taught by an expert anyways. After all, it’s the same price as one month of Mentorbox’s physical subscription.

On the other hand, Mentorbox doesn’t seem to list a price for their Mentor Network membership. If I had to take a guess why, I’d say it’s because the Mentor Network membership is quite expensive.

I’d tell members to apply and see if they can figure out the price themselves, but you already know about Mentorbox’s habit of charging your card without telling you; perhaps you should only apply to the Mentor Network if money is no object.

Affiliate Program

Tai Lopez has an affiliate program for his personal brand’s products (such as 67 Steps) but Mentorbox does have its own separate affiliate program.

It’s pretty simple. If you’re a paying subscriber to Mentorbox, you can ask them for an affiliate link.

Simply share the link with your friends, write about it on your blog, or spread the affiliate word through other means; each referral that signs up for a subscription earns you a $30 credit.

Recap

Many people are very wary of marketers and companies in the personal development space.

Plenty of business “gurus” like to tell you how they “dropped out of college” and teach you their “secret trick that generates them thousands per month on autopilot”.

Tai Lopez gets these kinds of accusations leveled against him all the time, but I don’t think Mentorbox is a scam like many other self-improvement products; they have a habit of using questionable marketing tactics and one-click upsells, but you do learn valuable information.

First of all, there are some great works by great authors in there who have experienced real success. It isn’t just book knowledge repackaged into a $400 online course.

Well, technically they do repackage books into a course. But that’s not the point of the subscription; the purpose of Mentorbox is to teach you speedreading. All the knowledge you gain from these books is just a nice bonus.

In addition, Mentorbox works with C-suite executives to further enhance the lessons.

And unlike a $400 online course, you aren’t being fleeced of your money; $7 for the digital package is less than a Netflix subscription!

The speed reading skills you gain from the lessons come in handy, not to mention that you’re reading actual books by real people with valuable knowledge to share.

It won’t make you money automatically, it’ll just teach you how to extract the lessons from books much faster so you can further sharpen your skills and achieve business and personal success.

Just remember: you still have to do the work and apply the knowledge to your current skills if you want to reap the full benefits of speed reading.

The same goes for the actual books you read; if you’re reading as a tactic to achieve success, knowing the contents of a book cover-to-cover means nothing.

What you do with the knowledge you gain is what truly matters.
