If I had a nickel for every nutritional supplement MLM started by network marketing veterans, I could probably sign up for a monthly auto-ship of their overpriced products…
Okay, that might be a little harsh. In fact, the played-out backstory actually seems to be working pretty well for SPX Nutrition; it only took them 4 months in business to exceed their original growth projections for the business. [1]
Does this mean I’m involved?
This video explains everything:
Make sense? Either way, here’s the full review on SPX Nutrition.
Overview
SPX nutrition, a health and nutrition MLM based in West Jordan, Utah, was started in 2014 by Rick Wall and Tracie Duke, two people with years of experience in MLM.
They claim to have “the most effective weight loss product on the market”. I don’t know if I believe that, but something is obviously working for them.
The motto of their business opportunity for IPs is this:
“Spend more time with your family living the life you deserve, doing the things you want to do.” [2]
Sounds great, but can you really achieve that with this company?
Products
Nutri-Thin
This is their flagship product, and the one they’re still most known for. It’s a weight loss product they claim is proven and backed by science. They also claim it’s the most effective weight loss product on the market today (how many other MLMs say the same thing?).
The blend of ingredients in Nutri-Thin is supposed to target three areas:
- Increase energy levels
- Suppress appetite
- Burn extra body fat
What makes it unique, though, is that it targets two brain centers – the accumbens (the pleasure center) and the hypothalamus (the part of your brain that tells you to eat). [3]
Basically, B-complex vitamins like B-12 act to increase your energy while an ingredient found in raw chocolate targets your accumbens brain receptors, helping you release endorphins to make you feel satisfied and less hungry. Other natural ingredients (including bitter orange, acai berry, and ginseng) are used to speed up your body’s metabolism and burn more fat by targeting the hypothalamus in a process called thermogenesis.
Lots of nerdy science stuff, but it sounds pretty legit.
Each bottle is $40 and contains 60 supplements, and you take 2 a day, so a bottle is a month’s supply. Not cheap but actually not terrible for MLM price-wise.
The nutritional facts are as follows:
- Vitamin B3 – 100% of your daily value
- Vitamin B6 – 100% DV
- Vitamin B5 – 100% DV
- Vitamin B12 – 100% DV
- Vitamin B9 – 100% DV
- Caffeine
Vita-Sea
“Harness the Healing Power of the Sea”
Sooooo, what does that mean? Are we going full on Little Mermaid here?
Basically, this is a nutritional supplement that uses some powerful sea-based ingredients to improve your health. Apparently there’s a lot of beneficial stuff down in the deep blue that we’re still discovering. [4]
- Aquamin
- Sea Lettuce
- Bladderwrack
- Maqui Berry
- Spirulina
- Stabilized Rice Bran
Nutri-Biotix
This is their probiotic supplement for improving immunity and digestive health. It has over 5 billion crucial probiotic cultures.
Probiotics are often recommended to improve digestion and help build digestive microflora, and they’re very popular. Especially when we’re all popping antibiotics so often in our lives, probiotics can be really important supplements. [5]
XTreme Cardio
This supplement is meant to increase blood flow and improve cardiovascular health through a combination of L-Arginine, L-Citrulline, and other trace minerals.
L-Arginine is some pretty powerful stuff. A group of scientists actually won a Nobel Prize in 1998 for discovering the importance of Nitric Oxide, and studies show that L-Arginine and L-Citrulline trigger cell production of Nitric Oxide.
Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of both men and women, and one stroke-related death occurs every three minutes. So if a product can really help lower those numbers, it’s a big deal. [6]
Nutri-Cleanse
This natural supplement is a cleanse system that claims to reduce bloating and fat absorption.
Basically, it’s a super fiber with ingredients like Anthraquinone Glycosides which stimulate the colon and cleanse the intestines. [7]
Opportunity
Starter packs are spendy. The basic one is $120, but as always, you get more benefits if you go with the larger ones. The business builder is $240. You are required to be on auto-ship to remain active.
You do get a good amount of training and support, though, through their “Business in a Box” system. You get a customized personal website, in-depth coaching, a complete back office system, and more.
Like a lot of other companies, they pay out 50% on their hybrid unilevel plan. Really not a bad rate.
The compensation plan is designed pay higher commissions up front so that IPs can start earning quickly.
They’ve got some pretty good First Order Bonuses (35% on first time orders from referrals, 5% on level 2 orders). You also start earning team commissions on your first 2 levels right off the bat. Eventually you can earn 7 levels deep. [8]
SPX even has a fun little perk that pays their IPs to lose weight. Yep! They’ve got a weight loss challenge, like every other health and nutrition MLM, but SPX will actually pay their IPs bonuses if they go through the challenge and lose a certain amount of weight.
But are the earnings sustainable? As with most MLMs, only for the top 1% (if that).
Recap
So, they’ve got a pretty good compensation plan, and their product is actually legit.
It’s pushing them forward and they’re exceeding their revenue goals pretty consistently.
But they’ve only been around for 2 years, so even the most exponential growth isn’t really that impressive. Growing right out the gate isn’t too hard to do in MLM – sustainable growth is the tricky part.
The 2 year mark is the smallest obstacle. The vast majority of new MLMs won’t be around in another 5. Is that a risk you’re willing to take with this company?

Look, if you actually believe in the SPX products and you have a solid plan of how you’ll sell it, this wouldn’t be a bad MLM to join. But if it’s just the money you’re chasing, your time could be better spent.
If you like automated ways to build passive income there are better ways out there, like this one.
(and you can trash those old MLM habits, too)
